A Meet-up with Michael: We Interview Our Managing Director

Stepping into the managed print service arena to inspire change in the industry, Managing Director of My Procurement Partner Michael Coulson talks business.

Morning Michael. What made you want to go into this type of business?

Morning! Having been in the industry for 6 years, I was tired of seeing so many businesses misadvised and put in terrible managed print contracts. Unfortunately the MPS industry is not always seen in a positive light, and if you think that 1 in 3 companies want to leave their current provider, then it provides credibility to why I am doing what I am doing.

How would you sum up what My Procurement Partner does?

We manage our clients’ full managed print procurement process, securing them the best value contracts in the marketplace. Our aim is to create transparency in an industry that is shrouded in secrecy. While customers continue to be stung by bad contracts and MPS company profits rise, we’ve entered the arena to act as an alternative option. We help businesses to source a reliable managed print provider through a steady process of reviews, contacting suppliers and comparing proposals to ensure they’re getting the very best value for money.

How long have you been in business?

My Procurement Partner was many years in the pipeline, but officially came into being earlier this year. Our mission has begun, and clients now have a true independent specialist who will work with their best interests at heart.

How did you get the background and skills necessary to run MPP?

With over 6 years of experience in the MPS industry, I thought it was time to do things differently! Before founding My Procurement Partner, I was a Sales Manager at the largest independent provider of managed print services in the UK. It taught me the perks and pitfalls of the industry and drove my passion to go and do things myself.

Where do you see your business in the next five years?

You never know what the future will hold, but I certainly have some particular goals in mind for My Procurement Partner. Not only do I want to have UK-wide consultants working for us, I want to have saved £3 million by December 2018 for our clients. A large savings target perhaps, but I believe it can be done!

Can you describe your customer base?

Our customer base varies from smaller businesses, to the public sector, right through to enterprising large corporate firms. No matter the business or industry, most require printing, and so we’re here to help everybody.

Why do your customers select you over your competitors?

I pride myself on having set up a business that is honest and goes the extra mile for our customers. I like to think that we’re here to disrupt the MPS market and trigger change in the industry!
